Disney Math
A trip to Disney is a “once in a lifetime” vacation that you will experience many times if you are lucky. And it can get pricey if you’re not very disciplined, which I am not. If you are, good for you.
It’s very easy to start out saying you’re going to stay at the cheapest value hotel and keep to a tight budget, but before you know it your overton window starts to slide. Once you’ve put the deposit down, the total remaining balance makes the whole thing seem cheaper anyway. Now you’re thinking, for $100 more I could be at the top end of the value range in a nicer resort with access to the skyliner. That’s Disney Math.
Say you booked a very quick trip and splurged on two nights at the Garden Wing of the Contempo so you could be near Magic Kingdom but at a more affordable price. The Garden Wing isn’t as nice as the Main Tower, but it’s just as close to MK and you got a 20% discount. But that was before you got your annual pass… So you check back and with you Annual Passholder discount for $200 more you could stay in the Main Tower. You’re only going to be there two nights and the rooms will be identical. But… now you’re in the Main Tower! That’s Disney Math.
